“What is real? How do you define real? If you’re talking about what you can feel, what you can smell, what you can taste and see, then real is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain.”

– Morpheus, from the movie Matrix

The Matrix movie was released in 1999. It was about defeating a simulated reality called the Matrix. The Matrix was trapping humans in a pseudo-reality that did not exist.

In all of this, ‘Neo’ by the name of Thomas Anderson was living a mundane life as a software engineer. He had a mundane life with nothing to look forward to, making him feel empty with the longing for more.

Neo’s journey of self-discovery begins when he encounters a mysterious figure named Morpheus. Morpheus introduces him to the concept of the Matrix. He believes Neo is the prophesied “One,” a powerful figure who can overthrow the Matrix and free humanity.

As Neo learns more about the Matrix and his role as the One, he begins to awaken to his true identity and potential. He discovers that his experiences in the Matrix are not real and that he has been living a false life created by the machines that control the Matrix.

Morpheus: “What you know you can’t explain, but you feel it. You’ve felt it your entire life, that there’s something wrong with the world. You don’t know what it is, but it’s there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad.”

Through training and guidance from Morpheus and other members of the resistance, Neo gains new skills and abilities that allow him to break free from the illusions of the Matrix and confront its creators. In doing so, he fully embraces his identity as the One and uses his power to defeat the machines and free humanity from their control.

In summary, Neo understands whom he is in the Matrix through a journey of self-discovery and awakening, guided by the teachings and support of Morpheus and the resistance.

To be conscious of being, you need to reclaim consciousness from the mind. This is one of the most essential tasks on your spiritual journey.”

Understanding the purpose of your being is the most important thing when you embark on the journey of Leadership Coaching India

In this video of Coach Anish Reflects, Coach Anish explains the relevance of Savant Leadership and that of being a philosopher. This video compels you to look at Savant Leadership as the epitome of spirituality in action.

So, just like Neo had worked towards understanding who he truly was, so must a leader work towards their journey of first gaining self-awareness? Thereafter, can they develop clarity about their true purpose?

Only then do they transform from Servant Leaders to Savant Leaders. And the glue that brings this all together is working on one’s Spiritual Quotient levels or SiQ levels.

Here’s a poem by Rumi that explains how we must gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and this world. He calls every human being a ‘guest house’; here’s why:

The Guest House

This being human is a guest house.

Every morning a new arrival.

 A joy, a depression, a meanness,

some momentary awareness comes

As an unexpected visitor.

 Welcome and entertain them all!

Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,

who violently sweep your house

empty of its furniture,

still treat each guest honorably.

He may be clearing you out

for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,

meet them at the door laughing,

and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,

because each has been sent

as a guide from beyond.
